Great review day today class.

I think we were able to cover a lot of material really fast today so hopefully, if you engaged in the review session today, you feel confident about the test tomorrow. If you are feeling unprepared, you can always come see me during lunch and seek the extra help you may require.

Today’s homework is the CHapter 5 REview on page 152-153 Q ALL.

Good luck with your studying tonight and See you tomorrow.

Bye for now

Rotation Symmetry, Translations and Reflections

Hola Math 9!!

Yesterday we discussed rotation symmetry and today we began our discussion of symmetry on the coordinate plane with translations and rotations. The assigned textbook homework is as follows:

Rotational Symmetry: pg. 377 #1bc, 3, 5, 8

Translations and Reflections:  pg. 392 #1acd, 2ac, 3, 4. 5 and 6

We also began our Transformational Geometry Project which will be due on Wednesday May 14.

It’s almost Friday!!

Math 10 AW: May 7 ~ 5.11 Temperature

Converting temperatures happens everywhere…ESPECIALLY IN CANADA! WE may be mostly Metric here in Canada but our neighbours to the south use imperial constantly. WE may know what 20 degrees celcsuis feels like (comfortable room temperature), but most of the thermostats that we find in our homes have fahrenheit measures on it.

Comes up everywhere so master this conversion stuff!

Homework tonight is from section 5.11 p. 149 – 151, Q: 1,3,4,7,10

Math 10 FPC: May 7 ~ Tower / Quarter Problem

Hey everyone

I thought the tower quarter problem was an interesting example of using conversions in an everyday example… well that might not be needed for every day situations but hopefully you can see the applicability of using this method in similar problems. Such as trying to figure out how many 10 ft 2×4″ boards you could fit in the back of your pick up truck when it has a canopy on.

Homework today is to finish the conversion Worksheet that I handed out yesterday and to finish the Tower Quarter problem from today. I will be counting both for homework marks so make sure you get them done.

WE have a Quiz tomorrow on conversions so finishing that conversion WS will help you in your studying for the quiz tomorrow.

All the best and dont forget to get a good night’s sleep.

Mr. VT

Math 10: May 6 ~ Vernier Calipers and Conversions

Fun class Today.

We have gone over the Ch. 8 & 9 test in class now but if you have any questions about how to do a question, come see me at lunch or in class.

Vernier Calipers demo in class hopefully gave you enough knowledge to answer any questions regarding vernier calipers. Make sure to finish that worksheet so that you have an idea of how to find measurement examples.

The conversion Worksheet that I handed out today will be collected as a homework mark so make sure to finish that. PLEASE CIRCLE OR DRAW A SQUARE AROUND YOUR ANSWERS!!

All for now

Mr. VT

Keeps a heads up as we are nearing the end of Chapter 1. Expect a Quiz soon to wrap up Chapter 1.

Math 10 AW: May 6 ~ 5.8 – 5.10 Mass

What a great pace we are taking through this material. We are really moving quickly. Today we worked in 2 different systems, Imperial and Metric and how to switch units from one into the other. SAme unit conversion method that we learned weeks ago now using it in different contexts.

Todays Homework is from section 5.10, p 145 – 147 Q:2,4,5,7,11,12

Have a great night

Mr. VT

Keep a heads up as we will finish this chapter tomorrow. Thursday will be a review day and Friday will be the Chapter 5 test.

Chapter 8 – Symmetry

Today we began our discussion on symmetry with lines of symmetry and tessellations. This unit should be a nice break from the rigour of linear equations, inequalities and polynomials.

Your homework for today is pg. 370 #1-6, 9, 10, 12a, 17 and the lines of symmetry worksheet in your notes booklet. FYI – I’ve uploaded both the notes booklet and the homework sheet to the handouts section of this site.

Have a great day :).
