Math 10 FPC: May 30 ~ 3.3 Sine and Cosine Ratios

Alright! We now have all 3 of the Trigonometric Ratios needed to tackle Right Triangles that may be so foolish as to get in the way of our pencils and calculators.

Dont forget,

You have to look at the Triangle, figure out what you have, choose an appropriate Ratio based on SOH CAH TOA.

When you have an angle and a side, use TAN to find your unknown triangle side length.

When you know 2 sides, Use 2nd FUNCTION + TAN to find the angle in degrees.

HW today is on p. 120 Q1-3 (ACE), 4-12

Math 10 AW: May 30 ~ 8.5 Tan

CHapter 8 is coming to close.

WE learned about the last of the Trigonometric ratios today in class. Tan was the last one we need to know.

Tangent (Angle) = Opposite / Adjacent

REmember the 3 examples that we did in class.

When you haave an angle and a side, Use Tan to get your answer in units of length.

When you have 2 sides and no anlge, use 2nd function + Tan to get you answer in degrees.

Today’s Homework is on p. 229 Q 1-3

Enjoy your Long weekend.

Math 10 FPC: May 29 ~ 3.1 Tangent continued

WE finished the Tangent ratio today.

Tan (angle) = Opposite / Adjacent. Keep it in mind when we work with Triangles. WE did all 3 exmaples of questions that could be asked using the Tan ratio.

The homework today is:

p. 107 Q 8,9,12,14,15

The text is found in the resources page of this site.

Math 10 AW: May 29 ~ 8.4 Cosine

TRIGONOMETRY!!

Cosine (Angle) = Adjacent / Hypotenuse

Keep this ratio in mind whenever you need to work with Cosine.

The homework today is p. 227 Q 1-3.

Have a great Night

Math 10 AW: May 28th ~ 8.3 Sine Ratio

TRIG ROCKS!!

WE had a look at our first trigonometric Ratio today, Sine (Not Sin). Sine = Opposite / Adjacent

Process:
Find your angle of interest
Label the trianlge
Fill in the numbers for the sides of the triangle needed for the ratio
Solve for x.

Homework tonight is on p. 2244 Q: 1,2,4,5

Going to rock on to Cosine tomorrow!

Circle Geometry Test Tomorrow!

Hey Math 9!!

Just a quick reminder that your circle geometry test is tomorrow :). Please make sure to bring in your completed homework for this unit, so that I can mark it. Remember, I’ve posted the answer keys to both the homework booklet and the review on this site (under handouts) so that you can check your work.

Happy Studying!

Math 10 AW: May 21 ~ Review Day

Hey everyone

Great review session today. I think those that really committed to being part of the review process will do very well tomorrow. Those that chose to do something else will unfortunately have to pay the consequences of that choice.

If you haven’t finished the chapter review in your work books, finish that for homework tonight on p 208 – 209. Q: 1,2,4,5,8,9

Tomorrow will be our chapter 7 test. It is a short block so please be prompt to class so that you can have as much time as possible to finish your test.

Sorry that a test fell on Spirit Day!

GO PARKLAND!

Math 10 FPC: May 21 ~ Quiz day

Hey Everyone

Quiz day today. I think most people finished today before the bell rang which means they will have their quiz back tomorrow to do corrections on as review for the Chapter 1 and 2 test on Friday. Tomorrow will be a short block, so we will have to use our time wisely.

Don’t forget to have a look at your Chapter 1 quiz for corrections as well. Lets say that Quiz corrections are due the day of the test and Homework checks are due at the end of tomorrow’s review session.

Bring your spirit to school tomorrow as it is spirit day at Parkland!

GO PARKLAND!!

All the best

Mr. VT
